An Image Library for Casa Hotel
One hotel, two very different food and drink offers, an extensive shot list and a single day to capture it all.
Working across the vibrant Barça Bar and the 2 AA Rosette Cocina restaurant, we created around 150 finished images for Casa Hotel, giving its marketing team a versatile new library covering food, drink, chefs and the action in the kitchen and bar.

The Client
Casa Hotel is an independent four-star hotel in Chesterfield, home to two distinct food and drink offers: the relaxed, vibrant Barça Bar and the 2 AA Rosette Cocina restaurant.
With new menus across both, Casa needed an extensive new collection of food and drink photography that could capture the different character of each while giving the marketing team a versatile library of images to use across its website, social media and wider marketing.
The Brief
This was an ambitious brief for a single day's photography.
Across Barça and Cocina, the shot list covered everything from coffee, brunch and smoothies through to cocktails, tapas, steaks, pizza, desserts and wine. Alongside the finished dishes and group shots, Casa wanted action throughout: cocktails being made, ingredients added, sauces poured, chefs plating, steaks cooking over the Josper, carving at the table and food arriving from the kitchen.
The challenge wasn't simply creating individual photographs. We needed to work through an extensive shot list while keeping the food looking its best and working efficiently around a busy hotel, restaurant, bar and kitchen.

Our Approach
With such a substantial shot list, planning and pace mattered.
With both of us photographing the shoot, we could keep things moving without compromising the details that make food and drink photography work. While one of us photographed, the other could work ahead with the kitchen and bar team, prepare the next setup, refine styling, check dishes and glassware, adjust lighting and make sure everything was ready for the next shot.
That meant less waiting between setups, fewer demands on Casa's team and more photography from the time we had available, while still giving every shot the attention it needed.

Two Distinct Food & Drink Offers
The day moved between two very different subjects.
Barça called for a brighter, more colourful feel across brunch dishes, casual dining and cocktails. Cocina moved into darker, richer imagery, with steak, wine, fire and the theatre of the kitchen playing a much greater role.
Rather than treating every item as an isolated photograph, we created consistency within each collection so Casa could use the images together across campaigns, menus, web pages and social content.

Bringing the Food to Life
A large part of the brief involved showing the food and drink in action.
That meant going beyond finished plates. We photographed flames from the Josper, chefs cooking and plating, sauces being poured, ingredients being added, cocktails being made and food being handled and served.
For Cocina in particular, the open kitchen gave us opportunities to photograph the craft behind the finished dishes. The raw steaks, dry ager, Josper and chefs at work helped connect what arrives at the table with the preparation behind it.
The Result
By the end of the day, we'd worked through Casa's extensive shot list and created a versatile library covering individual dishes, drinks, menu collections, chefs, kitchen and bar action, and the distinct personalities of Barça and Cocina.
Casa now has around 150 finished images, with portrait and landscape options giving its marketing team photography that can work across its website, social media, campaigns and wider marketing.
